Bonzer Burn's Bash

Saturday finally arrived. We headed off at 2.45 to meet up with Sally-Ann and Mike at the car park on North Country so that we could drive up to Pelynt in convoy, and arrive together for the Burns Night celebrations.

We arrived and were shown our rooms - really large, with a dressing area and separate bathroom, a king sized bed and a separate single bed - Fred would be ok when he came to go to sleep - he'd have his pick of the beds, or our heads to lie on!

We got ready, and as you can see from above picture, the wrap that I made worked quite well, with a little help from the lovely celtic brooch that Alison loaned to me.
Even Fred has his bow tie, that I fashioned for him - he wowed them in the pub when he paraded through with Hamish, also in his bow tie!
Paul's pocket handkerchief that I made worked quite well too - shame the suite was now 2 inches to small on the waist (he only wore it in June for Sharon's wedding and is now decidedly aware he needs to go on a diet!).

We all met in the bar before hand and walked over the Fiona and Denis's cottage for pre dinner drinks, then back to the Inn for our Burns meal.

Pete the chef walked through with haggis, whilst Charlie the landlord read out the address to a haggis, with much frivolity from us all.....

Then came the toast, with malt whiskey of course, followed by a huge serving of haggis with neeps and tatties - yum!

We all had dressed in some item of tartan - some gents in waistcoats, dicky bows, ties, handkerchief's the ladies in wraps or skirts, and even the tables had a small item of tartan on them.

The following morning we decided to drive home via the Bodinnick Ferry , as the morning arrived with beautiful blue skies....

As we waited for the ferry, Sharon realised that we were all in order - a MK1, a MK2.5 and a MK3 !!

The ferry arrived....

and the crossing went without a hitch.... - no titanic moments sorry!

All in all a really nice weekend - roll on next year!

I just left a note on Sally's blog to say how nice the evening must have been and I do admire your expertise with the tartan... Hamish and Fred looked very fetching in matching bows.
